The Group IPCEI-CIS Project aims at creating an efficient suite of processing services to properly organise and orchestrate information flows in an Edge-Cloud/Multicloud Continuum for their secure integration and implementation in a variety of application areas:
- the Smart Shipyard, enabling true Industry 4.0 solutions for the ship construction phase, and preparing the future Industry 5.0 solutions;
- the Smart Ship, creating the best conditions for the optimisation of ship operations, its energy efficiency, its environmental footprint, its safety, and its maintenance by properly integrating digital twins in the Edge-Cloud Continuum;
- Digital Lifecycle Management, by enabling the lifecycle management of complex systems and infrastructures with an ever increasing level of automation and autonomy and by integrating and orchestrating advanced cloud and edge-based features;
- Cybersecurity of the Edge-Cloud Continuum, by implementing advanced probes for maritime applications and suitable threat intelligence strategies.
From the architectural point of view, a fundamental role shall be played by a robust and scalable maritime data platform that will enable the proper exchange of data, information, and processing services on the (IoT)-Edge-Cloud Continuum.
