DataCLEEN exploits high-performance computing technologies in a highly scalable, federated, trusted cloud-edge continuum to accelerate energy transition and to create new products and services with a strong involvement of industries and public entities from Italy and Europe.
To meet the new energy and environment challenges, the DataCLEEN infrastructure, which comprises five ENEA computing and data centres from all across Italy, aims to be highly scalable, flexible, sustainable, and low power while delivering high-performance computing and big-data capabilities from the cloud to the edge, to the laboratories and the energy plants.
DataCLEEN meets European requirements in terms of cybersecurity and data protection, contributing to a more sustainable use of cloud and edge computing for the Italian and European companies participating in IPCEI. DataCLEEN aims to accelerate the companies’ R&D&I phase to facilitate their FID activities.
DataCLEEN is highly innovative by providing, in a seamless and sustainable way, HPC technologies and AI at the edge to exploit on-premises data of five applications in the energy field:
- management of critical infrastructures,
- smart cities,
- materials for energy,
- fluid dynamics, and cultural heritage.
