The ECOFED – European Cloud services in an Open FEDerated ecosystem – project aims to develop open interfaces and open source software tools that will enable cloud interoperability, cloud switching and cloud federation. This will be important for all companies relying on cloud services as these deliverables will lower the risk of lock-in effects and also reduce the dependency on a few large providers. The innovations for common interfaces will be achieved in close cooperation with partners across Europe and based on a common European open reference architecture.
