European industries are facing major challenges in digitalisation, such as in Industry 4.0 – where the control of production machines and robots requires closed and secure control loops. In addition to the Cloud, this also requires a wireless connection for communication via 5G. Ericsson’s KeeCEK – Development of small, efficient, effective cloud edge nodes – project is developing technologies to make the Cloud-Edge nodes smaller, more energy-efficient and effective. More effective means developing Cloud-Edge systems for business and industry-critical applications in order to be able to process very large amounts of data with very low latency in a particularly reliable manner.
KeeCEK enables the use of existing mobile networks as a platform for providing Cloud services for critical applications. Lower latency times and the direct connection of devices with applications in the Cloud-Edge enable improved and new business processes.
