Hybrid Event: Spain’s Role in Shaping Europe’s Sovereign Cloud and Data Ecosystem

As part of the 8ra Initiative, this hybrid event, organised under the Arsys Chair in Data Science and Cloud Computing at UNIR, will highlight Spain’s strategic contribution to Europe’s next-generation digital infrastructure. Held on the occasion of Europe Day, the session brings together policymakers, industry experts, and researchers to explore how national and EU-level strategies are driving the development of a secure, federated and energy-efficient Multi-Provider Cloud-Edge Continuum.

The event will feature a focused discussion on the Spanish participation in the 8ra Initative, including Arsys’ project, which is designing a federated cloud/edge orchestration system and data portal framework to enable real-time, low-latency, and energy-efficient digital services across Europe. These innovations support the broader 8ra mission to foster interoperability, digital sovereignty and open cloud collaboration across the EU.

The programme will also address the critical role of trusted data spaces in creating value through secure data sharing and sector-specific use cases.
