IPCEI-CIC: Next Generation Compute Infrastructure Continuum for Europe
To maintain industrial competitiveness, Europe requires a distributed and sovereign computing environment. Alongside the IPCEI-AI, several EU Member States—coordinated by Germany – are establishing the IPCEI-CIC (Important Project of Common European Interest on Compute Infrastructure Continuum). The goal is to provide European companies with a powerful infrastructure that reduces dependency on non-European providers.
The Vision: A Seamless Compute Infrastructure Continuum
The IPCEI-CIC focuses on edge computing and distributed data processing. By creating a sovereign “Compute Infrastructure Continuum,” AI models can be trained and deployed directly at the data source across Europe.
