CISERO “Open Source in Cloud Infrastructure for IPCEI-CIS”

The CISERO online session “Open Source in Cloud Infrastructure for IPCEI-CIS: Challenges, Opportunities and Strategic Pathways” will bring together stakeholders from across the 8ra Initiative and the wider European open-source community to discuss how Open-Source Software (OSS) can strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty and accelerate innovation in cloud and edge infrastructures.

As the coordination and support project of the IPCEI-CIS, CISERO plays a key role in ensuring the broad adoption and long-term impact of the technologies developed within the 8ra Initiative. Open source is central to this mission. It provides the foundation for interoperability, transparency and collaboration across European providers and ensures that results from the IPCEI-CIS evolve into sustainable, community-driven technologies.

This session will highlight how open-source approaches are being implemented across IPCEI-CIS projects and how they contribute to:

  • Accelerating innovation and reducing technological dependencies in cloud-edge systems.
  • Building interoperable and modular frameworks that support cross-provider operation.
  • Establishing governance models for transparent collaboration and software lifecycle management.

Participants will gain insights into CISERO’s roadmap activities on open source, learn from project experiences and contribute to shaping a more coordinated and impactful OSS ecosystem for cloud-edge infrastructure in Europe.
