Digital Roundtables: Advancing Joint SLA Governance for Federated Cloud Services

Effective Service Level Agreement (SLA) governance is essential for ensuring interoperability and trust in distributed cloud-edge environments. Two digital roundtables will bring together stakeholders to discuss frameworks for SLA management across multiple providers, building on outcomes from a recent expert workshop held in Cologne.

Both sessions are hosted by the German-led FACIS project (Federation Architecture for Composed Infrastructure Services), which includes developing open, machine-readable SLA models and low-code technologies to support secure, compliant and scalable multi-provider service orchestration. FACIS applies European standards such as the European Digital Identity (eID) and promotes open source collaboration to reduce dependence on non-European providers.

This project is part of the 8ra Initiative and contributes to 8ra’s vision of establishing a federated, sovereign Multi-Provider Cloud-Edge Continuum in Europe. by addressing a critical governance layer – enabling trusted service composition, legal harmonisation, and operational alignment across the European cloud ecosystem.

During the roundtables, participants will:

  • Review findings from the initial Cologne workshop
  • Discuss implementation approaches for SLA frameworks in multi-provider settings
  • Contribute to shaping practical SLA governance models for federated settings

These sessions are aimed at service providers, legal experts, infrastructure architects, and anyone involved in SLA management and digital service governance.
