Future generations of aircraft require better connectivity between aircraft and ground services to enable optimised operations and efficient and (cyber-)secure integration of services. A European, federated, open and decentralised Cloud infrastructure is essential here.
Airbus Operations GmbH‘s AXIS – Aero Concept for Cloud Information Services – project connects aircraft as “flying edge devices” to an IPCEI-CIS-compliant infrastructure. The project focuses on the integration and testing of technological components for communication and data processing in an aircraft on the one hand and on the prototypical definition, implementation and networking of connectivity services on the other.This creates new integrable services for passenger transport processes and “smart services”. The connection of “on-board” communication systems, which enable new product functions, is to be trialled in an Airbus test aircraft (A350).
