The European Cloud Campus will fulfil the need for advanced, secure and sustainable infrastructure and a corresponding set of technology services and innovations. The project enables EU hyperscaler-like deployments of compute, storage and other Cloud-enabled capacity, allowing the development and deployment of modern applications on a platform following European values, standards and rules.
A sovereign European Cloud is desirable, as it – among other reasons – enables alignment with EU standards and rules from the start (instead of needing to adjust to them when regulations and standards change), data residency in Europe and the possibility to more easily attract and keep knowledge workers in the EU. The European Cloud Campus project creates such a platform, creating the possibility for SMEs and developers to create sovereign European cloud apps and enabling companies to run their application in a fully European Cloud. There are no solutions (either Open-source or commercial) that satisfy the requirements to be highly scalable, energy-efficient, vertically integrated and have the ability to provide efficient multi tenancy – these solutions will be created during the project, and made available to the market.
