The project focuses on establishing a quantum-safe communication channel between cloud users and cloud servers. The goal of the project is to achieve quantum-resilience by applying quantum-resistant cryptography, namely, quantum key distribution (QKD) and post-quantum cryptography (PQC).

The planned activities include:

  • Development of a Quantum-Resistant Cloud Access Architecture (CAA) by integrating QKD- and/or PQC-based keys into secure key exchange protocols;
  • Development of a quantum-resistant backup management solution;
  • Identification and classification of potential data types and usage scenarios;
  • Preparation of security recommendations for each identified category;
  • Integration of quantum-resistant key exchange and authentication protocols.

The project will provide end users, private companies, and the public sector with quantum-safe access to cloud services over the public Internet.

The project is implemented by the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Latvia (IMCS UL), in cooperation with SIA CODEX. It is funded by the European Commission Recovery and Resilience Facility, project Nr. 5.1.1.2.i.0/4/25/A/CFLA/005.
