It is expected that in the near future, micro-manufacturing and decentralised manufacturing will significantly facilitate the creation of innovative products, making prototyping and new product development more accessible to entrepreneurs, inventors and micro-producers.

Thanks to (manufacturing as a service) platforms, it is expected that every manufacturer, designer and self-employed entrepreneur, even in the least populated regions and small towns of the EU, will be able to remotely receive the services of other micro-manufacturers.

The next-generation cloud will significantly help automate such solutions: designers and manufacturers will be able to work and collaborate remotely from anywhere. Potentially, anyone can be a creator of new products and benefit from cloud manufacturing in the future. The creation of the platform will require the use of different software and infrastructures to integrate different systems and effectively provide services at least on an EU scale.

The project will explore and propose solutions for two stages of the IPCEI value chain:

  • Platforms and Smart Processing Services for app and data management and processing in the cloud-edge continuum.
  • Initial Roll-out and deployment of innovative use cases at first industrial deployment stage.
